چکیده
Castor bean (Ricinus communis L.) is a promising industrial crop suitable for cultivation in marginal conditions the Mediterranean area, but mechanical harvesting of seeds still usually performed manually. In this manuscript, authors present preliminary test to assess effectiveness equipping combine harvester with sunflower header mechanically harvest castor beans. Machinery performance, seed loss from impact (ISL) and cleaning systems (CSL), were evaluated compared results obtained same equipped cereal header. According results, no statistically significant difference CSL was found. Values ranged 162. 41 kg dry matter (DM) ha−1 145.56 DM header, corresponding, respectively, 8% w/w 7% potential yield (PSY). Using significantly lowered ISL (158.16 ha−1, i.e., PSY) comparison (282.02 14% PSY). This suggests more gentle cutting conveying capability plants without losing capsules. On other hand, use different headers did not affect which averaged at 20% total collected both cases. conclusion, study highlights that conventional could be first step towards development fully mechanized phase beans triggers lower does negatively capacity harvester. Further studies are also encouraged confirm these findings hybrids.

In 2009 a National Security Science and Technology grant was awarded to the Human Protection and Performance Division for the investigation of several forensic aspects of the castor bean plant Ricinus communis. A major focus of this grant was to understand the chemical composition of the seeds, and to ascertain if these differences could be used for provenance classification. This technical rep...

Ricinus communis agglutinin was subjected to various chemical treatments and the effect on its hemagglutinating and saccharide-binding properties was studied. Acetylation, succinylation and citraconylation led to a complete loss in the activity of the agglutinin, whereas reductive methylation had no effect on the activity, showing that charged amino groups were involved in the hemagglutinating ...
متن کاملDifferential Expression Patterns of Lipid Genes in Developing Seeds of Castor Bean (ricinus Communis L.)
Castor bean (Ricinus communis L.) is one of the most important non-edible oilseed crops. Characterization of seed development and lipid accumulation from female flowers pollinated to mature seeds has been carried out. The temporal expression patterns of 65 lipid genes involved in fatty acid and triacylglycerol biosynthesis using the semi-quantitative RT-PCR technique were also investigated. The...
متن کاملDevelopment of RAPD Markers linked to Fusarium Wilt Resistance Gene in Castor Bean (Ricinus communis L)
Wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ricini, is the most severe disease of castor bean (Ricinus communis). For the development of marker for wilt-resistant gene, 200 F2 individuals from a cross between the resistant cultivar 48-1 and the susceptible cultivar VP-1 were inoculated with a race of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ricini. Bulked segregant analysis was used to search for random amplifi...
